Police Investigating Greenfield Bank Robbery

GREENFIELD (KDKA) – A former University of Pittsburgh football player has been arrested in connection with a bank robbery in Greenfield Monday morning.

According to police, robbery happened at the PNC Bank in the 4300-block of Murray Avenue around 11 a.m.

Jovani Chappel, 25, was arrested around 1:30 p.m. at a home in the 5000-block of Lytle Street in Hazelwood.

Chappel allegedly threatened a teller with a gun before hopping over the counter and stealing money from a couple of the drawers.

According to the police criminal complaint, Chappel yelled “No dye packs … I will kill everyone in here … No silent alarms … I used to work here, no dye packs!”

Chappel then allegedly had an employee put money inside a book bag.

He then fled the scene in a car.

A witness however, saw Chappel get into a blue Chrysler-type car…
